Smart, Sustainable Sewage Solutions for Residential & Commercial Spaces
As urban populations grow and water scarcity becomes more pressing, Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) are no longer a luxury but a necessity. Whether you're managing a residential society, commercial building, or institutional campus, an STP can help you conserve water, reduce pollution, and stay compliant with environmental norms.
At Chfour Energy, we’ve been at the forefront of designing and operating sustainable water treatment systems for over 15 years. Here's everything you need to know about STPs and why they matter.
What Is a Sewage Treatment Plant?
An STP is a facility designed to treat wastewater from toilets, kitchens, and bathrooms—also known as domestic sewage. This water contains organic waste, soap, oil, and disease-causing pathogens that can’t be released into the environment untreated.
Through physical, biological, and chemical processes, an STP cleans the water, making it safe for reuse in flushing, gardening, landscaping, or even cooling towers in commercial buildings.
Where Are STPs Needed?
As per environmental guidelines, any building or facility generating more than 20 KLD (kilolitres/day) of sewage must have an operational STP. This includes:
- Housing societies & gated communities
- Hotels, resorts, and hospitals
- IT parks, malls, and commercial buildings
- Educational institutions and hostels
- Government and defence buildings
How Do STPs Work?
- Preliminary Treatment – Removes large particles, debris, and oil
- Primary Treatment – Settles out suspended solids
- Secondary (Biological) Treatment – Breaks down organic waste using bacteria (technologies like MBBR, SBR, or ASP)
- Tertiary Treatment – Disinfection using UV or chlorine for water reuse
- Sludge Management – Safely handles the solid byproduct
Technologies We Use at Chfour Energy
- MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) – Compact & efficient
- SBR (Sequential Batch Reactor) – Best for variable loads
- ASP (Activated Sludge Process) – Time-tested & cost-effective
- MBR (Membrane Bioreactor) – Advanced treatment for reuse
- We select the right system based on your sewage load, space, budget, and reuse goals.
Benefits of Installing an STP
- Reuse wastewater for non-potable needs
- Lower water bills and reduce water tanker dependency
- Avoid fines from pollution control boards
- Protect the environment and groundwater
- Improve project sustainability ratings (IGBC/GRIHA)
